In yet another laconic email Steve Jobs address the issue of printing from the iPad:

So it will come. But when? How? As usual Steve Job’s emails leave us with more questions than answers.

Could World of Warcraft be coming to the iPad?

by on May.05, 2010, under iPad News, iPad Rumors

It looks like David Perry the co-founder of Gakai, a game streaming service, is showing a preview of things to possibly come.

WoW on the iPad

It works by streaming footage of a game running directly to a browser, thereby cutting away the need for a traditional game install, and taking away much of the processing and data legwork from the device, or mobile, used.

How it works is the game is kept on Gakai’s servers and remotely streamed using HTML5 which is iPad friendly. The question is will it be Apple friendly? In other words would Apple approve an app that implemented this technology. That remains to be seen.

April 24th Global Launch?

by on Apr.06, 2010, under iPad Rumors

It’s looking like the iPad will launch on April 24th for Canada and beyond. Great news for those abroad who can’t wait to get their hands on their iPad’s. International excitement for the iPad is high everywhere, but especially high in Germany. Apple Germany ordered 75,000 units, but customers ordered a whopping 250,000 making demand 3.5 times what was expected. So let’s hope this launch date rumor proves true!

Multi-taskers of the world, unite!

by on Apr.03, 2010, under iPad Apps, iPad News, iPad Rumors

. . . continue readingTo whom ever said “If  you try to do two things at once, you do neither” I whole heartedly agree. In this day an age if you’re not doing at least four things at once you’re not accomplishing anything. We are a society of multi-taskers like it or not. Although I do agree that there are just some things that should not be done together. I’m looking at you, lady who got arrested for shaving her bikini line and driving. Put the razor down.

So if the iPad is “revolutionary” than shouldn’t it be capable of multi-tasking? . . . continue reading

Free Books!

by on Apr.01, 2010, under iPad Rumors

A classic is something that everybody wants to have read and nobody wants to read. – Mark Twain

From all the internet buzz we can tell that a high percentage of iPad buyers are excited about the eReader function of the iPad. Apple knows this and has wisely scheduled the launch of the iBookstore to coincide with the launch of the iPad.

Huck Finn

The rumor is that along with the selection of books that iPad users can buy starting April 3rd, the iBookstore will also have the over 30,000 Project Gutenberg titles. This is fantastic news. Project Gutenberg is the collection of public domain books that has long been available on the internet.  Classics like, The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, Ulysses, and Jane Eyre. I know for many the prospects of reading War and Peace on their laptops never seemed very appealing so without an eReader most people would never tackle the freely available classic titles on Project Gutenberg.

This is a great move on Apple’s part. These titles are available on the internet and can be added to iTunes, but by adding them to the iBookstore Apple is making it much simpler for users. Plus it’s a great way for iPad owners to get a feel for the ease of use of the iBookstore. And it’s not a stretch to imagine someone searching out a free digital copy of Pride and Prejudice and ending up purchasing Pride and Prejudice and Zombies too.

We’ll see for sure when the iBookstore launches, but in the meantime check out the titles on Project Gutenberg. There are quite a few titles that have been on my list to read for quite sometime including The Count of Monte Cristo and Wuthering Heights. What about you?

Hulu for iPad?

by on Mar.30, 2010, under iPad Rumors

“Why buy the cow when you can get the milk for free?”

Hulu on the iPad sounds like a dream come true, but at what price? The rumor is that Hulu will be coming to the iPad for those willing to pay a monthly subscription.

I don’t think it’s a matter of if Hulu will be on the iPad but a matter of when. Since it’s not just an issue of pricing that Hulu has to work out, but they also have to secure mobile rights for all of the content and of course deal with the ubiquitous issue of Flash. Since the iPad will not use Flash and all of Hulu’s content (including advertiser content) is encoded in Flash this could take some time. Perhaps we’ll see Hulu making a move to HTML5 in the near future? . . . continue reading
