More iPad DJ’s
by J.J. on May.15, 2010, under iPad News
Andrew Andrew are a bit annoying annoying, but once they actually start mixing (about 5:15) their tunes are pretty cool. They are declaring themselves iPad DJ’s but unlike some other iPad DJ’s we’ve seen, they seem to be simply operating their laptop from the iPad vs using apps specific to DJ’ing like Sonorasaurus Rex.
In case you don’t want to watch their explanation, and I don’t blame you, they say they are using Ableton via TouchOSC. And if you’re a DJ that probably means something to you. Their purpose is to be a mobile DJ and not to be tethered to the equipment in the booth. Using the iPad allows them to be on the move and out with the crowd.
They do play an eccentrically cool mix of the I Dream of Jeannie theme song, Vampire Weekend, Prince, the Eurythmics, Guns n Roses, and the Black Eyed Peas.
And why don’t you want an iPad?

“You know, you can’t please all the people all the time . . . and last night all those people were at my show.” – Mitch Hedberg
And here was the perspective from some of you who are not interested in getting an iPad:
“I’m not getting an iPad. I find Apple products to be counter-intuitive, and I deal with the iPod but I’d never go for the iPad or iPhone. I like keyboards, I like having access to manual settings, I don’t like computers to do everything for me, because they end up doing the opposite of what I want them to do. If I need a reader, I’ll get the Kindle.” – Anne
“I think the concept is great but I’m taking a wait and see attitude (which is a first for me and Apple products). I’ll stick with my Kindle for now.” – Jeff

Why do you want an iPad?

I want the world
I want the whole world
I want to lock it
All up in my pocket
It’s my bar of chocolate
Give it to me now – Veruca Salt (Charlie and the Chocolate Factory)
We want to know why do you want an iPad? What model are you getting? What will you use it for?
“I’m getting the 64GB 3G model as soon as it’s available. I’m going to use it mainly to read ebooks and browse the interactive emags. It’s a wonderful media consumption device and it is the first true bridge to the new media (print/interactive). I decided to wait for the 3G model because I don’t want any limitations to where I can use it when I’m traveling. I’m tired of all the space books take up. If everything can be stored on a device and quickly accessed I won’t need to clutter my life with physical books. ” – Kristopher
“I am getting an iPad. 3g 64 gig. I think the iphone is too small and I think my macbook is too heavy. A perfect thing for coffee shops. I can browse the internet, read, and distracted by email. Perfect all in one, so I won’t have to fumble from thing to thing. ” – Shilla . . . continue reading
But what is it?

“And now for something completely different” – Monty Python

Some people see the iPad as merely a full sized iPhone, while others think of the iPad as a scaled down laptop, Apple touts it as something altogether different. A third device that fits in between the smart phone and laptop. Is there room for a third device? Steve Job is convinced. And I’m on board.
