Soundhound rocks!

by on May.18, 2010, under iPad Apps

“No, I like to rock and roll all night and part of every day. I usually have errands. I can only rock from like one to three.” – Role Models

Have you downloaded Soundhound yet? Go ahead, download it now, I’ll wait. . . . Done? OK.

This might come as a surprise, but SoundHound is replacing my iPad’s iPod app. That’s right, when I’m listening to my own music from my own library I’m more often opening up SoundHound rather than the iPod. SoundHound simply has more to offer. . . .continue reading

Hey Facebook! What’s your problem??

by on May.11, 2010, under iPad News

“I really have to thank Facebook. When I first heard about the campaign to get me to host Saturday Night Live I didn’t know what Facebook was. And now that I do know what it is I have to say . . . it sounds like a huge waste of time.” – Betty White

Why isn’t there a Facebook iPad app? Seriously. What’s going on down at the Facebook HQ that they are so busy they don’t have the time to create an iPad Facebook app? Is the entire staff of Facebook volunteering their time cleaning up the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico? Is Mark Zuckerberg busy dancing on this season’s Dancing with the Stars? Seriously? ABC, Netflix, the Wall Street Journal, USA Today, The Weather Channel, Google, Entertainment Weekly, Pandora, IMDB all had iPad apps ready to go for the launch of the iPad that was announced months earlier. These are all major companies and yet they were able to mobilize in time to create an app that was an amazing and unique iPad experience of their core websites. And yet here we are over 30 days after the initial launch of the iPad and nothing from Facebook.

Of course, the Facebook iPhone app works on the iPad. But you have one of two poor choices. You can use the iPhone app on the iPad in it’s original iPhone size which just looks silly in the middle of the giant iPad screen or you can blow it up to twice the size. And then it looks just like you’d expect something that’s been blown up to twice it’s size to look. Like crap.

Attention, Facebook, Apple has sold a million iPad’s so far and that’s just in the US. It’s time to sit up and take notice. It’s time to create an app that will make Facebook come to life on the iPad. Oh yeah, and while we’re talking, cut out all this invasive privacy policy stuff. It’s creepy. Peace out.

Apps! Apps! Apps!

by on May.02, 2010, under iPad Apps, iPad Unboxed

After spending 24 hours with the iPad here is a list of the free Apps I’m loving and I would recommend everyone download immediately!

ABC Player – kudos to ABC for this amazing app to view ABC shows

Netflix – a must for all Netflix subscribers for rearranging the queue and viewing Instant Watch movies

Wikipanion – a great app for accessing Wikipedia designed just for the iPad

EW Must List - a fluff app, but beautiful in its execution and lots of fun links

iBooks – a fantastic eReader

Soundhound – a surprising app that can replace the native iPod app and provide you access to your music library with more bells and whistles

Pandora - this app is designed to take full advantage of the iPad screen

AirVideo Free – view your videos that are currently on your computer on your iPad without using your precious memory

IMDB - although you can navigate to IMDB through Safari this app is designed for the iPad and it is really well done.

USA Today – a pretty good (and free) app to read USA Today

The Weather Channel – although I rarely check the weather since I live in San Diego and it’s always beautiful I absolutely love this app

We Rule - the only game I’ve played on the iPad. It’s free and mildly addicting

Multi-taskers of the world, unite!

by on Apr.03, 2010, under iPad Apps, iPad News, iPad Rumors

. . . continue readingTo whom ever said “If  you try to do two things at once, you do neither” I whole heartedly agree. In this day an age if you’re not doing at least four things at once you’re not accomplishing anything. We are a society of multi-taskers like it or not. Although I do agree that there are just some things that should not be done together. I’m looking at you, lady who got arrested for shaving her bikini line and driving. Put the razor down.

So if the iPad is “revolutionary” than shouldn’t it be capable of multi-tasking? . . . continue reading
